Shri Ashish Vachhani, presently posted as Additional Secretary (Budget), Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India, is IAS 1997 batch Tamil Nadu Cadre officer, responsible for formulation and execution of the Union Budget.

For most of his career, he has worked in the field of public finance. This includes Deputy Secretary/Joint Secretary (Budget), Government of Tamil Nadu, Director (Infrastructure), Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India and Advisor to Executive Director, Asian Development Bank.

He was also the Faculty at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration from 2008 to 2012. He began his career as Sub Collector, Sivakasi and was posted as Collector of Dharmapuri and Tiruchirappalli districts of Tamil Nadu.
